Privacy Policy

Your privacy is critically important to us. It is our policy at the Downtown Prince George Business Improvement Association (“Downtown PG”) to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you, electronically or in print, and to diligently adhere to Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation. The following describes our policies as they pertain to Property Owners and Business Owners who have submitted a Member Information Form (“Members”) as well as the general public (“General Public”).

If you have questions about deleting or correcting any personal data you’ve provided to Downtown PG electronically or in print, please contact us immediately. If your Member information has changed, you may download a new Member Information Form.   Member Information Form 

For the purposes of this policy, “Downtown PG” is geographically defined as the C1 Zone  Map in Prince George, British Columbia.

  1. Website visitors

General Public:

Like most website operators, Downtown PG may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its website as well as non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Downtown PG’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Downtown PG website visitors use its website. From time to time, Downtown PG may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website. Downtown PG does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

  1. Gathering of personally-identifying information

Members:

The amount and type of information that Downtown PG gathers is fairly consistent across all persons who own a business or property in the C1 Zone of Prince George, British Columbia. All Downtown PG members, at their will, fill out the same Member Information Form. Member Information Form This form requests certain information so that the organization may communicate to and interact with members on essential topics such as notification of the Downtown PG Annual General Meeting as well as the day-to-day issues and initiatives of the organization.

General Public:

For general website visitors, you may be asked to provide personal information in the event that you wish, for example, to enter a contest or participate in an offer or promotion.

  1. How we use your information

Members:

With your expressed permission via your Member Information Form, we will send you email on topics we believe are relevant to you as a property owner and/or business owner in Downtown PG. Emails may come to you directly from the desktop of Downtown PG staff and/or from our MailChimp® email program. If you do not wish to receive email directly from staff, you may contact the office at (250) 614-1330 to inform us. In the case of emails you receive through MailChimp®, you may use the built-in unsubscribe feature. These polices apply to both the primary contact and secondary contacts as indicated on your Member Information Form.

Staff and/or Board members of Downtown PG may use the information on your Member Information Form to contact you directly should any matters regarding your specific property or business arise.

Staff, Board members, contractors and/or volunteers may use the Social Media information you have provided so as to use those tools to help cross-promote your business though these channels. Downtown PG remains committed to the utmost professionalism in use of social media where our organization and member businesses are concerned.

Information on your business type, location and other aspects may be compiled to help design and direct initiatives of Downtown PG, such as advocacy efforts and neighborhood-based promotions.

You will be provided with information on Downtown PG’s Annual General Meeting, as per your request via email or regular post.

General Public:

To enact contests, promotions or special offers you may be asked to provide us with your name, address and e-mail address information, as well as to confirm that you are of the age of majority in the jurisdiction in which you reside. You may be asked to provide additional information in order to qualify for such contests or promotions. We will also use your personal information to award prizes if applicable. If there is any use beyond contacting you with such information, you will be advised of the intended uses at the point that you are being asked to provide any additional contact information.

  1. Protection of certain personally-identifying information

Members:

Downtown PG discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, Board members, contractors and affiliated organizations that

(i) need to know that information in order to process it on Downtown PG’s behalf and

(ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others.

As it pertains to your Member Information Form, Downtown PG will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, Board members, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, Downtown PG discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when Downtown PG believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Downtown PG, third parties or the public at large. Downtown PG takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

General Public:

Downtown PG discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, Board members, contractors and affiliated organizations that

(i) need to know that information in order to process it on Downtown PG’s behalf and

(ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others.

Some of those employees, Board members, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using Downtown PG websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. Downtown PG will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Security for all personally-identifiable information is important to us. We strive to take reasonable physical and technical measures to prevent loss or unintended use of information transmitted to us at the time of collection or storage.

  1. Privacy policy changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, Downtown PG may change its privacy policy from time to time, and at Downtown PG’s sole discretion. Downtown PG encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its privacy policy. Notification of revisions is limited to the actual posting of the revised privacy policy on this site. Your continued use of this site after any change in this privacy policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
