Downtown festival hasn’t been held since 2020
Unfortunately, hosting a vibrant winter festival in our downtown is still not possible in these different times. Downtown Prince George will once again, miss partnering with the many organizations and businesses who joined together to bring a fun and winter festival atmosphere to our downtown from 2017 to 2020. For four years we hosted the annual celebration of winter on the second Sunday in February, the last one being on February 9, 2020. Once again, will have to put the winter playground, family fun activities, winter market and the s’more contest on hold. We hope to bring the festival atmosphere back to our downtown in 2023.
“Back in the late Fall, we had really hoped that the world of event hosting would fully return and were thrilled when we secured provincial funding to host Downtown Winterfest”, said Colleen Van Mook, Executive Director for Downtown Prince George. “The BC Fairs, Festivals and Events Recovery Fund was based on supporting the safe restart of in-person events in BC Communities and it was exciting to know that our event was recognized as an important community gathering. The good news is that the province has extended all of its funding approvals for one year and that means we will plan to CELEBRATE WINTER with in Downtown Prince George in 2023!”
